We have received a request to develop a healthcare system that can cover the basic needs of private clinic staff to maintain patient records and provide all internal communication between doctors and managers. The global goal of this product was to centralize all these disparate processes and reduce them to use a single system that would give doctors all the necessary tools for saving, monitoring, and exchanging information related to the treatment process. Thus, a need to provide patients with the ability to share their feedback became obvious, which formed the ideological basis for the development of a mobile application.
A patient portal is a mobile app for clinical patients usage, which allows:
1. Provide healthcare recommendations based on personal patient’s data
2. Track health parameters
3. Providing feedback to the physician
4. Review personal progress with the graphs and scales
5. Get notifications (about taking medications and other things)
6. Communicate with the doctor by using a messaging system
In order for the doctor to receive information about the patient's health status in a timely, detailed and interactive way, we developed an appropriate functionality for tracking the main measurements (weight, temperature, blood pressure, etc.) The need for integration with smart devices has also become apparent.
By receiving this information in a chart view, the doctor can make adjustments, improve or change treatment methods. Moreover, we added the ability to provide patients with information on the medicines they need (the RXNorm database was integrated for these needs). In addition to medicines, with the help of our application, the patient can receive advice from the doctor on physical exercises (we also added a step counter tool), nutritional supplements and information about the patient's medical problems in the format of video lectures.
To provide a complete feedback to the doctor, with the customizable frequency patients answer questionnaires on their well-being, nutritions and the usage of an app. It also informs the doctor about the stability of the treatment process or the need to make changes.
The mobile application actually works as a messenger between the doctor and the patient, allowing them to constantly be in touch, exchange video and audio messages, as well as useful files to read. Thus, the entire healthcare life of the patient, communication with the doctor, the ability to make appointments, monitor his own indicators and share them with the doctor, find out useful information about personal medical problems - are enclosed in one small and easy-to-use application.
